Oh my gosh, what have we done.
Our little baby gurl has just turned one.
You makes us so incredibly happy,
Apart from some of those explosive nappies!
You scared the bejesus out of us,
In your first few weeks alive.
We can’t tell you, how incredibly grateful we are that you survived.
I don’t think I slept so little, in just over a week
The outlook at the time, was pretty bleak.
But, after a scary few weeks, you finally came home
The boys got to squeeze your rosy little cheeks, and treated you as though you were the new Cesar of Rome.
It made us just so happy,
I am such an incredibly proud pappy
and not just for what you’ve been through, but also of how strong your momma had been,
I think that was clear for all to be seen.
You have since become such a little powerhouse,
Surprising us all, when you started running down by the Ouse.
We’ve had such an incredibly year with our little family
Like catching unforgettable moments on the beach in France
Memories that have made our hearts forever dance.
You are lucky to have two units of brothers
Who share your incredible spirit, probably received from your wonderfabulous mother
You are so lucky as those boys will always look out for you,
Just maybe not when you do those explosive number twos.
However when push comes to shove
All they really want to do, is give you sometimes a little too much love.
When you are older, never do forget,
You are part of an incredible movement.
You are part of a growing group you see,
The strong girls club, is there for you to be.
It doesn’t matter what you want to do;
run your first race
Or become a pilot ace,
Whatever it is, we are excited for your future,
even if that does mean watching you stitch your first suture.
It would make me feel a little queasy,
But we are sure whatever you do, you will find it easy.
I’ve spoken a little bit about your mother and your big brothers but this bit is from me
I was so made up when you came to life you see.
I fell in love all over again, you and me.
I love our time when we are out in your buggy, the cuddles at the end of our run just make us so huggy.
When you look up and I see your gorgeous smile, it makes me happy with every single mile.
Happy happy happy birthday our beautiful little gurl.
I will finish with a little thank you,
But really, despite all this writing, all I needed to say, was
I love you.
